About Kylie Ireland
- Height: 5 ft. 5 in.
- Weight: 130
- Measurements: 36D - 26" - 36"
- Eyes: Green Eyes
- From: Longmont, Colorado
- Born: May 26
- Zodiac Sign: Gemini
I was an only child, a small town girl, born in Longmont, a little community just outside of Boulder, Colorado. On May 26 I came into the world, a sweet, innocent, pudgy little girl with a tuft of blonde hair (it didn't stay blonde for long; I was destined to have the family red tresses). I think I had what you could call a good childhood. I had great parents, was well loved and provided for...I was a little spoiled, but that's what happens when you are an only child.
As the daughter of a street-rodder, I grew up with an appreciation for 50's music and beautiful classic cars. Being an only child I am imaginative and creative. I spent a lot of time alone, and developed an appreciation for books and nature. I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up, or a writer, or a videographer for National Geographic. I was a straight-A student all through school (except math; I hate numbers) until my parents divorced when I was 13. At about 15 I pretty much became a full-time hellion.
I spent a couple of years "experimenting" with various mind-altering substances, being the spiky-haired, heavy metal, head-bangin' stoner type and getting into trouble. Hey, there's not much to do in a small town so you have to be inventive. My dad didn't see it that way, however, and one shameful night, when he caught me crawling back in my bedroom window after a wild evening of partying he said "No more."
A few days later I found myself on an airplane bound for San Diego, where my mom had relocated to when she remarried.
San Diego wasn't all that bad, but I convinced myself that it was Hell on Earth. I missed Longmont, my friends and everything that had been familiar to me all my life. I continued to be the party girl for a while until I met a nice boy. Ned (yes, Ned, and he's going to kill me for using his name) turned my life around; we dated for the remainder of high school. I laid off the and partying (with the exception of the California Cooler-style beach bonfire parties), my grades went back up and my parents let out a huge sigh of relief. After graduation I stayed in the San Diego area and started college. At this point, Ned, my high school sweetheart - and my prom-date - dumped me, broke my heart and went to college at Long Beach State. (Since then I've forgiven him, we remained friends, and we actually talk often.)
During the end of high school and through part of college I worked for a chain of video stores in the San Diego area where I learned a lot about porn. Since the stores had adult movie rentals I became pretty familiar with the videos, the stars and the companies. I watched quite a few, even though (of course) in high school I wasn't old enough - and it was about this same time that I started to think I might be bisexual. It wasn't until I moved back home to Colorado and had already begun dancing in a local Ft. Collins strip joint (The Hunt Club for those of you taking notes) that I explored these fantasies. In fact one of the first girls I had sex with was a friend who waitressed at the club. Her name was Juli, and years later she became the porn star we all know and love as Juli Ashton.
I came into the adult industry via an acquaintance who was a friend of photographer Warren Tang. Warren eventually shot one of my very first magazine layouts. I decided that since I was ever-adventurous I would go to Los Angeles to try one or two movies and see what happened. After about five movies I was getting all kinds of calls for more work so I decided to move my entire life, dog and all, from beautiful Colorado to a lovely (not) one-bedroom cottage (?) on a charming five-lane thoroughfare nestled beneath the power lines in North Hollywood.
I did my first eighty movies in the short span of ten months, freelancing for various movie companies and gracing many boxcovers. Before the new year the stresses of the adult industry, the crazy schedule and the fact that I really missed home finally got the better of me. I packed up my life once again and moved back to Colorado, intending to do occasional movies, but more importantly, to begin my career as a feature dancer on the strip club circuit. Over the next five years I traveled all over America and some of Europe dancing and doing personal appearances promoting my movies.
At the 1994 AVN Awards I was surprised with the honor of being awarded the coveted Best New Starlet award. Quite literally surprised since I was in the restroom when they called my name (being in the bathroom when you win an award at the AVNs has since become a kind of tradition, but I believe I was one of the first). This led to a couple of brief, failed exclusive contracts, (Sin City and InXcess Productions) until I landed a contract with VCA Pictures, the oldest production company in the adult industry.
For the next five years I worked with VCA, amassing a video library (please see my movie list for more details) that includes many of my favorites like Cashmere and Raw. In early 1996 I started up www.kylieireland.com, my personal website and my obsession, becoming one of the first porn stars on the Net. I began to cut back on my dance appearances as I grew weary of the hectic travel schedule of a feature dancer. I moved several times between Colorado, LA and San Diego, finally landing in May of 1999 in the sunny San Fernando Valley to not only continue my role as spokesperson and contract star for VCA, but to take on the position of Director of Publicity.
In the summer of 2000 I gave up my VCA Contract and my job as Publicist to actively work in the adult industry once again. I went back to freelancing, working for different companies. I relished the opportunity to work with directors and talent that I hadn't worked for during my time at VCA. I was at my sexual peak and having the time of my life. I truly love making movies and will continue to do so, but as always, my obsession is my website. In June of 2004 I started working exclusively for Platinum X Pictures (Jewel DeNyle's company) as a director and gonzo performer; I directed 14 titles in the year and a half I was at PXP before moving on to a non-exclusive directing deal with DVSX where I currently direct one title per month. In addition to my movies for DVSX I also direct a line of movies for a newer gonzo company named Bad Seed and perform in occasional features as well as appearing in some of my own titles.
In mid-2006 I decided I had had enough of working for other people and decided if I wanted it done right I would have to do it myself. At this point I opened SlutWerkz, my own porn company which features all female directors. SlutWerkz begins releasing titles in September 2006. In the mean time I continue to direct for DVSX and Bad Seed as well as perform.
In early 2004 I followed my love of radio from my college days and took a weekly radio show on KSEX Radio - an internet radio show. After 2 years of hosting Kylie Live on KSEX Radio Playboy offered me a weekly radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio - I am currently the Friday host of Private Calls, an evening talk radio program.
I currently live (and often shoot) in my renovated 1927 warehouse loft in downtown LA, I run 5 live webcams out of my home 24/7 so you can take a peek at a porn star in her natural habitat.
It's been a long, strange road getting here. Like most performers, I have a love/hate relationship with the industry. There are days when I can't wait to go to work, and other days when I would rather have a root canal. Well, maybe a few fillings... Still, the stresses of the industry take their toll, and everyone copes in their own way. In 2001 I came to the realization that my personal method of coping had gotten out of control, and I had to admit to myself that I was an alcoholic. For a former party girl working in a business that loves to party, staying sober has been tough; but it's important to me, and I'm making it work.
Each day I get up and realize that my time, my life and my career are truly my own, I'm grateful for the industry and my fans. I've seen places and done things that I might never have gotten to do, and I never forget that I have all of you to thank for that.

Interview with Kylie Ireland - August 21, 2001
On the Set Of VCA’s "Double Vision" in Los Angeles, CA
Pornstarempire.com: Hey, how are you?
Kylie: It's been awhile.
Q: So I am sitting here talking to Kylie Ireland. So Kylie, how long have you been in the business now?
Kylie: I've been in the business for 7 ½ years, I believe now.
Q: And how's it going for you?
Kylie: How's it going for me? The business is great. It's just like it's always been. I just came out from under my contract with VCA Pictures and it's been a lot of fun. And now I'm freelancing and I never thought I would be freelancing again. The nice thing about being under contract is that you don't have to, you know, make phone calls or argue about the guys, you don't have to argue about rates, you don't have to worry about dates and all that. You get to pick your scripts when you're under contract. So I never really expected myself to be out there, pretty much I thought that I would be with VCA until I retired. Well I'm back out there and it's actually fun. You know, there's the bad thing like having to negotiate and all that...I don't like doing that, but I get to work with all the new talent...people I didn't get to work with because I was gone for four years. I did twelve movies in four years, so there's new directors and new talent and it's just an adventure. It's kind of cool, I'm actually getting a kick out of it.
Q: So what happened with VCA?
Kylie: What happened with VCA? I'm not really sure what happened with VCA. It happened in my life while I had a monumental birthday. I had a monumental birthday that I thought was just going to be another birthday, but low and behold, my life...I decided to just dismantle my life systematically at that point and do some stuff that's good for me and umm...I walked away from a ten year marriage. I'm going on and on about myself...went into a relationship, which just ended, which was with Jonathan Morgan. I'm sorry, don't go there; don't even open the box. He and I have always had a thing so, I mean...for many, many years and really when I dumped my husband and ran into Jonathan it was really just about sex. It was okay...boy toy and when I get tired of him, and then I like fell in love with him. But after buying a house with him, he's decided now that he needs his space. So I just last week, can you tell I'm bitter [laughing], I just for the first time in my life rented an apartment and I'm living alone. It's been an adventure for me because I went straight from high school living with my parents and I lived with my best friend for a while and then college. Then I met my husband, so I lived with him and then we got married and then he was my husband and yadda, yadda, yadda, and then I ended up moving. For a short time I ended up living with T.J. Hart and then I moved in with Jonathan, so I have never lived alone. And now I'm going through this huge...it sounds totally ridiculous, but I mean...the other day I did a happy dance just because I paid my own bills. And it's so geeky and wrong, but I'm really getting a kick out of it and I'm really getting a kick out of being independent and it's okay, I can do this, I don't need any men in my life. So right now I'm having a lot of fun, you know, it's all about me and all about discovery and it's all about what I'm doing and who I am. I'm really getting into working on my website a lot more, I'm having fun doing movies, but everything's going good. I'm kind of glad that Jonathan needed his space.
Q: The epiphany of 30.
Kylie: But now I decided that another fucking birthday [laughing]...it should just be over. But I have to tell you that the sex drive thing is really nice.
Q: Yes, your libido increases quite a bit.
Kylie: Oh my... oh my, my, my...I had a lot of fun with that. I'm still having a lot of fun with that. I'm doing things sexually in movies and outside of movies that I had never done before, things that I swore that I would never do. I read interviews that I did back in '95 where I said I would never do that and I would never do anal. Like I don't understand how...what did I say? It was something to the effect of two dicks in your ass hurting, actually it's on my website that it says that, I have to change it because actually the other day I did a scene with Bridgette Kerkove...need we say more? And that pretty much says it right there. With Bridgette it's pretty much how many things can you stuff in how many places. So we just had a really good time experimenting. Umm...there's a newer, nastier Kylie in town. My Pandora's Box of sexuality has definitely been opened and I'm having a good time with it, so it's nice to be in the sex industry. I don't have to go out and pick up people in bars, I can just pick up the phone and say...hey, you shooting a movie? You're not shooting a movie? I'm coming over anyway. Nah...I have not made one booty call since I've been single. Yeah, it has only been a week [laughing]. Well look at what the last one did, I booty called Jonathan, look what happened? I lived with him, bought a house...ooh...no more booty calls for me. I would become a lesbian, but as much as I like girls, there are just times where you need dick. Plastic ones just don't do it.
Q: So you like women, but you like men more?
Kylie: Umm...I would have to say, yeah, but umm...
Q: Not the she woman, man haters club right now kind of...
Kylie: No, yeah, if you wanted to go that way, yeah, I hate men and love women. No, but as far as the sexuality thing goes...I love women, I love doing women, I love being with women, I love men, same thing but I...I'm one of those women who as much as I love being bisexual, I could never live without a penis. You know, a constant dick in my life or I just can't imagine not having a man in my life at all. It's just bizarre to me, it would be like becoming a vegetarian, you know, every now and then you've got to have a Big Mac.
Q: That's really interesting because, you know, a lot of people say that they won't do something in the past and they live to recant it. What else have you done that you thought you'd never do?
Kylie: On film?
Q: On film and in your personal life.
Kylie: Good god. There are a lot of things happening that I never thought would be happening in my personal life. Like getting divorced after ten years. I'm living alone. I lived with Jonathan Morgan for a year. I'm sorry, it's an industry joke for those of you that don't get it. Sexually off camera...umm...we can't even go there. You can't print it even on the internet. But on camera I've been experimenting and I haven't done a lot of things. I think when I first came out from under my contract at VCA I was kind of like...I wanted people to look and say...hey, she's different than she used to be. Like one of the last movies I did for VCA was Raw where I did a 3-guy anal scene on an altar. It was a great scene. Guys taking turns round and round, it took 4 hours to shoot, but it was just so much fun. I thought it was the beginning of the end sexually after that, because I just keep getting nastier and nastier. You'll notice if you compare old movies against new movies that I've done, I talk dirty, I don't know, there are just nastier things that I'll do that I didn't do before. I love anal, I don't know where that came from because I never really...it was one of those things that was okay now and then in my personal life and maybe in the movies, but I grew to like it. Maybe I'm hanging around Chloe too much? That could be a problem. She's an influence when it comes to things like anal and fisting, which is another thing that I just recently tried.
Q: And how did you like that?
Kylie: It's...I think it's just more amazing that you can just go...wow...she got the whole thing in there (laughing). Or, you know I had Keisha over for a web show and...I've actually had quite a few girls over. I'll do web shows periodically, live ones and then we'll tape them, put the video and the pictures up on the site so people can access it later. And those just always just get out of hand because it's just girls seeing just how far they can go. A hand...all kinds of things in Keisha. Who else did I do nasty stuff with? Brittany O'Connell came over, she was fun, I hadn't seen her in ages. I just did one with Kelsey that was really mellow. I really thought that Kelsey Heart would be off the charts, but maybe she was having an off day or something. Maybe she stayed up too late because she was quite normal for Kelsey. Chloe and I are planning one.
Q: Some women are wilder with a bigger crowd than they are one on one in a more intimate setting.
Kylie: Yeah, it was me and her and the camera guy so it might have been a little more intimate, but that's okay, you know, the variety is good. You can't have fisting in every live show. Or maybe not...we don't want them to get bored.
Q: See, Chloe would love that if we had fisting in every live show.
Chloe: Fuck yeah.
Kylie: See what I mean, there's my bad influence. I love anal, I'm into fisting...I'm hanging around Chloe too much. I've got to stop this, she's bad for me.
Q: You do other things besides porn, I mean, articles that you write, or...
Kylie: Actually I haven't been writing much lately unless it's for my website. I have a section of my website called "Ask Kylie", which desperately needs an update. I've been having webmaster troubles so don't get on my ass about it. But I have an "Ask Kylie" and you can ask your unique questions. So go to the FAQ pages if you don't have a question other than what's on that page. E-mail it to me and if I like the question I'll give you a good in depth answer and I'll post it up on the site. I've actually gotten really good feedback from it because people are interested in how the porn industry effects your personal life and your marriage or what do you do before an anal scene to prepare. I mean, this isn't the normal thing you can ask. I'll answer them, I just answer them truthfully and point blank. Here's your answer, if you don't like it...How do you get in the business? Don't! You don't like it tough, because I'm going to tell the truth. I don't make up things, cause I know that some girls make things up, past histories or different lives for their porn biographies or whatever. You know what, why do that? I could never keep up with the lies in line. I'd be screwing it up. I'd be screwed up all over the place and I'd be...it should just be easier to be honest I think. It's easier for me to not have to go through the bullshit. I don't have anything to hide anyway. I'm not all that different, it's not like I have any great secrets. I wasn't as a child or...my parents were divorced as a child. There, that's my big evil growing up secret. I have nothing other than that, pretty boring.
Q: What do you think brought you here?
Kylie: Male attention. That's the one thing that my father never really...I can't say that he never really gave me any attention but I think he just really wanted a boy. I'm going to be totally honest about this, I mean...I was an only child and my dad was really into building classic cars, which I love. I know more about cars than any girl should know. But being a girl, I don't think that my dad ever really knew what to do with me. And although he was a good provider and a great dad in all those aspects, he never really was there with me. Dad, I want to throw the softball around, and he never would. So in turn, the need for that male attention turned into the need for many boyfriends, not tons, but I had a lot of boyfriends in high school and I started stripping when I was in college just because it was a great way to pay for college. But what is that? It's just another form of male attention. Magazines were the next step up. I did them just for fun, I mean, I'm going to college at this point. I didn't think this was going to be my career, little did we know. I did some magazines and I did some of those just for kicks and then someone said hey, do you want to do movies? And I said, yeah, I'll try that. One or two, it should be fun, I'm curious, I'm adventurous, I like doing things like that. So I came out and figured I'd do one or two for kicks, now over 200 later I'm sitting here going...fuck...what happened [giggling]?
Q: What did you go to college for?
Kylie: Broadcast journalism.
Q: And did you finish?
Kylie: I'm actually like two classes short. But at this point I would have to go back and relearn everything in a higher, new form. Because things like editing, and television, it's all changed, it's all gone to a totally new technology since the time I went to school. So if I wanted to start over in college I would have to go and start completely over. I'd be better off just taking what I learned here and apprentice and learn and go in that way. That would be quicker. I'd probably learn more.
Q: So what direction do you want to head in?
Kylie: I don't' know. Like five years ago, people asked what I'm going to do in five years, I had a plan and I knew what I was going to do. The plan went to hell in a hand basket. I'm...just right now; I'm just rolling with the punches. Life is dealing me some interesting shit. Maybe...I believe in Karma. If you do something good it's going to come back to you threefold and if you do something bad it's also going to come back to you threefold. So maybe I'm just dealing with Karma issues and maybe I'm just crazy, I don't know.
Q: It's not like you've done anything bad.
Kylie: No, I haven't done anything that most people haven't, you know, gone through, just some emotional shit. The divorce, well I'm trying to go through the divorce.
Q: But people change and people grow and you find yourself different than you did six months ago.
Kylie: Yeah, so five years is just an eternity away for me. If I had to go out that far and say what would I be doing past porn, I would like to do a morning show, and I had offers to do them in the past, but the money for a morning show compared to porn, well...
Q: That's why a lot of girls have a hard time getting out of here because it takes a lot more than people think to weigh porn money where I don't have to do much of anything where if I have to work for a living for a fraction...
Kylie: Exactly. I love radio, but I'm spoiled by the money that I've made so...my goal is to set myself up so that then go on to do a job where I don't have to worry about having money. Where I already have my house, and there's not much that I need in life besides a good savings account or IRAs or any of that crap.
Q: But now you're starting from scratch.
Kylie: Now I'm starting from scratch yet again. I was on a good pace with the husband and then I started all over again with the boyfriend. Kind of the industry joke right now is hey, if you're looking for a girl that will buy you a house, Kylie's single. And everybody's...man, she buys houses for her boyfriends. No, I did not buy him the house; we split the cost [laughing]. I'm not buying another man a house, I hate men...so they will have a long wait. That's so fucked up. I don't mean to sound depressing or anything, I'm just really in a weird place. I listen to myself talk about my life and I wonder who am I talking about? Who is this person? But it's kind of cool, I'm taking time to figure out who I am, not Kylie, but me, the real person. I'm just rolling along, doing my thing. I'm really into doing the incense and candles again like I was before in college. I'm doing the hippie chick thing. It's just me and my cats and my hobby of interior decorating and picking up jobs doing that on the side. More for fun and friends, I'm not getting any money for it; it just kind of gives you something to do.
Q: So why don't we go in a different direction a little bit.
Kylie: Yeah, give me something happier.
Q: Who are your favorite people to work with?
Kylie: Go see the website...no [laughing]. Didn't you read my FAQ page before you talked to me? Actually the website is very incorrect because it has Jonathan Morgan on it. Just kidding...I actually do...Jonathan and I get along fine, it wasn't an angry breakup.
Q: Not like the time he got shot by the one girl?
Kylie: No. I don't know what he does to girls that they want to kill him. I don't' want to kill him, I still like him, so even though we broke up, it's okay.
Q: Didn't that girl get out of prison?
Kylie: She did, and I think he said that she actually called him.
Q: Morgan LeFay right?
Kylie: Is that who she is?
Q: Yes, I believe that was her name.
Kylie: I don't even know.
Q: She was a very unattractive young girl. She was probably one of the most unattractive girls to ever grace this industry. That's why I could never...I just remember looking at her and wondering how he could go from Tera Heart to that...and then she tried to kill you.
Kylie: Very bizarre.
Q: Well, that's this business.
Kylie: Insane is normal in this business.
Q: So who do you like in this business?
Kylie: Who do I like to work with? Right now, Dale DaBone is of course one of my favorite guys to work with now.
Dale: You're not just saying that because I'm standing right here, are you?
Kylie: Actually ask me again in a couple of hours and I'll let you know if he's one of my favorites.
Q: You've never worked with him before?
Kylie: Actually, I have...twice?
Dale: Yeah, a couple of times.
Kylie: I don't know, I'm looking forward to today. Wouldn't you?
Q: He's much better looking than some of the guys we had to work with in the past.
Kylie: Yeah, exactly. When I started working the guys didn't look like that. Well if they did, they were gay. The gay ones looked like that, no offense to Dale, but they did. Yeah, we had what? Ron Jeremy, Marc Wallice...I'm trying to think of some other choice ones here.
Q: Umm...Skippy...
Kylie: I never worked with Skippy.
Q: I never worked with him either, but he was there as a choice. Don Fernando.
Kylie: See, I never worked with any of them.
Q: Neither did I, but I know who they are, and they made a lot of movies.
Kylie: Jon Dough had a good body.
Q: He was still the worst scene I ever did.
Kylie: Really? The one thing about Jon Dough that always cracks me up but I tell everybody and I even put it on the site too. Every time I...I don't know if it's because of parting issues that he was having or what, but I've worked with him maybe five times, and every time I see him at a convention to this day, he reintroduces himself to me. He never remembers who I am. I'm like dude, I've had sex with you like five times. God, I must suck! You don't even remember my name. So, who else is around...Tony Tedeschi, he was in this movie yesterday. I was so surprised.
Q: I worked with him a bunch of times, it was always nice.
Kylie: One of the weirdest dicks ever.
Q: Yeah, the first time I ever saw it, I said, oh my god, that is not going in me.
Kylie: But it's soft. I mean, not soft in a soft way, but not...squishy.
Q: It's not going to hurt you.
Kylie: Yeah. It's the softest hard dick you'll ever meet [laughing]...but it is quite large. He's such a sweetheart. There's actually quite a few of the old guys still around. Steve Hatcher is in this movie; he's actually a really good friend of mine. I remember back when Hatcher was on my "no" list.
Q: Yes, and we all had big "no" lists.
Kylie: Everybody...but I wasn't really that bad though. A lot of girls had like five guys they would work with. I was quite the opposite, I had maybe two I wouldn't. And if you're on my "no" list then you've seriously offended me.
Q: Like I wouldn't work with Buck.
Kylie: I worked with Buck [laughing]. The first time I worked with Buck he sweated all over me, I called him "Rainman". He just sweat...and it was dripping down my back.
Crowd: Eww....
Kylie: Yuck! That's the one thing too that I remember about my very first movie set, which was Lil Ms. Behaved, shot by Sin City and they shot Cherry Pie at the same time. It was my first movie and Jenna's first movie when we were both like newbies, and Jonathan was on the set. I actually have a picture of the three of us that day. I don't remember who was working with Jonathan and Jenna, but Jenna didn't want to do Jonathan, but she was in the scene and she worked with the girl but Jonathan sweated on her. I remember her coming in and going...eww...gross! He sweated all over me.
Q: I hate to tell you, but she told me that story in my documentary but she never said who it was...and now I know.
Kylie: Did she really?
Q: She said it was horrific. She goes...there was this guy and he was older than me, and he sweated and it was...eww...it was so funny.
Kylie: I will always remember that. I don't remember the girl, but I will never forget that about Jenna. That was the weirdest set because it was Jenna's first movie, my first movie, Freddy Lincoln was shooting them, and the make-up artist was Nikki Tyler, and that was her first time doing make-up on a porn set. And that was kind of bizarre to see where all of our lives went after that. But it's weird to look at that picture, it's just us and we're rapping on the set, we're not even posing or anything and we're all just babies. Just like kids...Jonathan has all of his hair [laughing], Jenna has no boobs, I'm blonde and freckled and it's like looking at your high school friends or something. That's not me...I don't know who those people are but...Jonathan lost a lot of hair [laughing]...I've got to shut up.
Q: Well, I'm going to let you go so you can do your pretty girl [pictures] and I want to thank you very much for a very interesting interview.
Kylie: Hopefully I don't offend too many people with it. I really don't mean to, I love my job, I really, truly do. There's no place in the world where you can meet people like this and experience these things that you get to experience and have this much fun and make great money. This is a unique thing and I wouldn't give it up for the world. As fucked up and as backward ass as some of the people are in this industry, they're still all family. And it's really fun, but you do have to have a sense of humor because if you don't it will really drive you crazy. You know, look at what we're doing, you have to laugh at this. If you're not laughing, you're in the wrong business. So if anyone is offended by my interview, then please, take it with a smile, I'm smiling too.
Q: Thank you very much
Kylie: Thank you.
Interview with Kylie Ireland - March 5, 2001
Phone Interview
Pornstarempire.com: Where are you from?
Kylie: I was born in Colorado, just outside in a little town just outside of Boulder.
Q: I know that you started in your adult career via dancing, were you dancing while you were in college?
Kylie: Yes, I was going to college partially in Fort Collins and partially in Boulder. I was dancing at a place called the Diamond Cabaret.
...It's a great way to pay for college.
I mean, c'mon, that loan isn't cheap.
Q: No, I did that too.
Kylie: You did?
Q: Yeah, yeah I did. I went to UCLA and I stripped in Los Angeles, which unfortunately isn't great money. Actually, I started
in Pittsburgh, where I am now, and it was a lot better money than it was out there. But things have changed since then.
Wasn't it a big deal to you to start dancing in the first place, didn't that seem like a strange thing to do?
Kylie: At first it was, but it didn't last long. You're going to be nervous the first time.
Q: Then you ended up doing some magazine shots for adult magazines?
Kylie: ...Well I went to New York and shot some magazines.... I think the first one ended up in like Cheri--I'm not even sure now. But when I was out there,
[someone] said, "Hey, have you ever thought about doing adult movies?" and I was like, "Umm I watch them, that could be fun," and next thing I knew, I was
talking to a friend of his and I'm flying out to California and figured I'd do one or two for shits and grins.
Q: So you were pretty open-minded the whole time about it?
Kylie: Oh yeah, of course. I was into adult movies and knew most of the people. In fact for awhile I worked for a chain of video stores in San Diego ...and
I was in charge of ordering adult movies, so I knew the companies...and all of that because I actually had to order them, so I was very familiar with the product.
Q: But it's not what you thought you would be doing when you were a little girl.
Kylie: No, who does?
Q: So there wasn't any point that you were horrified by what you were getting into?
Kylie: No, no, never. I mean, I had my preconceived ideas, like I pictured porn set people drinking and doing , people having sex in the corners,
you know, like a really bad situation. And once I got here I realized, hey it's not like that at all, it's totally professional.
Q: So you checked it out and liked it, so you stayed?
Kylie: Yeah.
Q: You had intended on going into journalism?
Kylie: Yeah, I was going to school for broadcast journalism.
Q: But since you liked adult so much, did you figure you might as well stick around.... You don't have any regrets of not pursuing that?
Kyle: No, in fact it's easily something I could slip back into. I've had many offers to do morning shows, all kinds of radio things [where] obviously I
could use my writing talents. I haven't gone that direction yet. I mean I was really into editing when I was in school and that is always something I could
do now, too. Of course technology advanced some since then. It would be like going back to school again. I have no regrets. I mean, that is always something
I could fall back on and it has helped me through the years.
Q: What would you say is your favorite part of having sex on-screen?
Kylie: I love being watched. Like knowing that somewhere down the road somebody is going to be watching this and enjoying themselves, be it a couple or a single person or whatever. I just think it's cool.
Q: And were you aware of being an exhibitionist from an early age?
Kylie: No, I don't think I was. I mean, once I started stripping, that is when I acknowledged it. I certainly didn't have a problem being naked.
Q: Do you prefer performing with men or women?
Kylie: Right now I prefer to perform with men. That's just because I'm in a phase, sometimes I prefer to be with women. I don't know. I don't think I could be a
hands-down lesbian. Like being a vegetarian, I would miss my Big Mac every now and then.
Q: I had heard that it is easier to shoot sometimes with women.
Kylie: Well, occasionally guys can have trouble you know when your having wood trouble. I mean, obviously we last longer, so you know when you're shooting with girls, you don't have that aspect.
...As long as you're working with a good guy and you can keep him entertained, it's going to go smoothly.
Q: I know that your family is aware of what you do, what was their reaction like when you told them? Did they find out from you?
Kylie: My parents knew I was dancing. They have been divorced since I was 13. ...I told them I was dancing a long time ago and I kinda left it at that. I think I had been in the business for four
years before my aunt saw me on "Judge Judy".
Q: What's the deal with "Judge Judy", why do porn stars go on there?
Kylie: I was on there because I was suing Sin City Entertainment. They had put me under contract and never paid me.... So just to kinda prove my point that we are always being
taken advantage of, I filed a small claims suit against them. That's were Judge Judy finds her cases. They recognized my name and they recognized Sin City and they asked us if we would go
on TV to settle. ...I won. ...I had an aunt who saw me and called my mom and then my mom knew everything. But my mom is born again Christian and she is much in denial. Never really acknowledged
it much, and my dad was kinda like hey you know you're a grown up, you're successful and you're married and your happy, whatever works for you.
Q: So you do feel like you see less of your mother or talk to her less because of this?
Kylie: No, not as of right now. Like I said I was married, and now getting divorced. ...My wonderful husband took it upon himself to go and talk to my parents and make sure they knew exactly what in
detail what I do. My parents know everything now and that is kinda nice and has actually brought me closer to both of them. I don't think his plan to tell them to upset them worked very well, it worked great for me and my parents.
Q: If you have children at some point, will you tell them about your adult career?
Kylie: Well, yes, somewhere down the road I imagined I am going to have to. It will depend on who I am having the children with and their views on it as well. I know that there are some people in the industry like Sunset
Thomas--she's raised her little boy completely from the get-go knowing what she does and there are other people who are keeping it kinda you know...a secret until they are old enough. You have to decide where that stage is,
where they are old enough to handle it. You don't want them to find out from kids at school before you tell them.... It will be a major topic of discussion before I have children.
Q: Are you so famous that it would be difficult to keep it a secret if that is what you wanted to do?
Kylie: At this point I have been in [adult] for seven years. I get recognized a lot of places I go and if I were to have a child in the next year I could probably get recognized for the next couple of years.
But by the time the child was eight or nine, I may not be getting recognized as much....
Q: What is the casting like, do they just pick you on your previous work or do a bunch of you read for it and wait by the phone?
Kylie: Sometimes it's a little bit of both, most of the time, you are picked by...you know, they just know you. As of this point, I have been in this long, the directors pretty much just call me and say,
"Hey, you got these days open?" ...But sometimes on bigger movies, they do cast them. I know in the case where there are contract girls a lot of the girls...handpick the people that are going to be in their movies.
Q: I was looking at Raw this morning, actually I'm looking at it (muted) now, and I thought what's his name Joel Lawrence, I was going to ask you about him, because it looked like he was pretty good
at the oral sex and I wondered how you felt about that.
Kylie: I think he was okay. I don't remember.
Q: He was just real aggressive, like really spread things open and went for it.
Kylie: Well, they kinda have to spread things open so you can see it all, but I don't remember being offended by Joel. But you know, no fireworks going off either.
Q: He has a really big dick and I was reading on your website that you don't think size matters too much.
Kylie: No, not really. It's funny because after I had worked with Joel, I ended up with a bruised bladder so maybe I take that back. I mean if you get something like that, it's just because of the long
time that you're going at it, not so much the size, because you do adjust inside to the size.
Q: Maybe you do.
Kylie: I worked with Lee Stone the other day and he is absolutely humongous and I have to say I had a tough time adjusting to that.
Q: Would you say that the sex is usually gratifying to you?
Kylie: In the beginning when I first started, no. Lately as I'm getting older, I am discovering my sexuality or something, you know what they say...women as they approach 30...get this incredible sexuality. Well,
I think that might be happening, because I'm having a lot of fun and I'm really enjoying them a lot now than when I was new. I don't know if that is just coming with age or relaxing more, but I'm not going to argue with it, because it's fun.
Q: I was just watching Vengeance this weekend and I was watching that scene with all the gourds and corn and all that stuff and it was driving me crazy because you were playing with Serenity
with that gourd, and I was like, when is she going to stick it in her, when is she going stick it in her, but it never happened!
Kylie: They wouldn't let us, they said that crossed some line.
Q: Oh, really, that may not be legal?
Kylie: I don't know if it is a legality thing...but they wouldn't let us put the gourd inside. It was really weird because we were like, why not?
Q: It looked like it would of fit perfect!
Kylie: It would have!
Q: I would like to hear about your feelings about dating inside the adult industry. I get the impression you have dated within the industry.
Kylie: Well, I am, recently.
Q: Is that good, bad--tell me how that goes.
Kylie: It's interesting.
Q: Vanessa Blue told me that she found porn guys to be really possessive and insecure for the most part and had a really tough time dating them.
Kylie: I don't know if that is the case, I am dating Jonathan Morgan. It's bizarre.... I mean, Jonathan and I had a thing for each other for many, many years. We were always on each others list to work with
each other, we always got along great, we always had fun, but when I got divorced, when I started going through that process, we hooked up and it just worked, worked fabulous, and everybody was like "Oh my God, you're dating Jonathan
Morgan!" because he is known in the industry one of the biggest sluts. I heard Jewel DeNyle once say, "You aren't a star in this industry unless you've dated Jonathan Morgan." That was absolutely hilarious because he is not half of what
everyone seems to think he is. He's not that bad...but...everyone had their preconceived ideas of me and everyone has their preconceived ideas about him, and so they are telling me I'm crazy, "You're gonna get yourself hurt, he's gonna break your heart,
he's gonna cheat on you." Whatever. I was listening to everyone in the beginning, but now I have just quit. People are constantly in your business when you're dating inside the industry....
Q: Do you think it's harder to date someone in the industry than someone on the outside?
Kylie: Yes, absolutely, because you are in the public eye. People assume things. ...Like when I first started dating Jonathan, I also was getting out from underneath my VCA contract, so everybody assumed I was dating Jonathan to get a Wicked contract and
people like that are just dumb. ...That is not why I was dating him, I was dating him because I liked him.
Q: How long have you dated him?
Kylie: I've been dating him since about last summer.
Q: I'm really thinking of this whole dating within the industry thing because that Vanessa Blue, she was like, screw it, because she had a bad experience dating within the industry but then she said dating outside the industry
was too hard also so she called moratorium on dating while she had this job....
Kylie: It's a good call, probably. Even when I was married, the industry does effect you. I'm not divorced because of the industry, I'll put that on the record right now. My husband and I got divorced because of reasons outside of the industry,
it was reasons with our relationship and that type of thing, but there was always problems within the industry I mean you can't help but to be a little insecure when your wife is out doing movies, no matter who you are. ...That is why you see all these
relationships, whether its in the industry or not, fail. It's very emotional, you're putting a piece of yourself and your body and your life out there that's very personal and private.
Q: What would you say is the biggest challenge that you and he face? Is it the gossip?
Kylie: It's the gossip, it really is. We are both on sets and he directs and he does some acting still, too.... It's very frustrating. We have both learned to just not to listen to it and go with our hearts. I mean if this is gonna work it's gonna work,
because we are not going to listen to everyone else.
Q: Is there something sexual that you would like to explore on-screen that you haven't yet?
Kylie: Nope. Well, I haven't done a DP yet, so that is one thing I want to do, but I am just waiting for the right project, I guess.
Q: Now, [DP,] does that mean people or things?
Kylie: People. Done a DP with things. I've done a DP with toys. I've done it with girls and strap-ons, and I have done it twice...and I've done with it my new DVD that is coming out with VCA, An Affair with Kylie Ireland. It's a virtual sex DVD, I did a DP with guy and a toy....
Q: Do you think the age requirement for being in porn should be raised?
Kylie: Yes and no. It's tough. I think at 18, you're too young.
Q: Well, you can't even drink, it's just weird.
Kylie: If you can't even drink and you're getting thrown into a place where you're going to be bombarded with money...whether you're in the porn industry or not, if you've got that kind of money you're gonna find , find alcohol, find the parties....
You might not be ready to do some of the things you're doing on-screen. I know me at 18...I couldn't have imagined being in the porn industry, but still, at 16 I was doing , so it's just so hard to say. I don't think at the age of 18 you're equipped to handle the money....
You can make a quite a lot of money in a short amount of time and you can really screw yourself up with it if you're not careful. That is something I am going to stay out of. It's good for our industry, obviously. People want to see an 18 year old and there is a place for that, that is necessary, but....
Q: You're still working for VCA, occasionally?
Kylie: I am still working for them. My contract with VCA was up the first of the year. However, I owe them one more movie under my contract, so I'm gonna shoot that sometime probably late spring.
Q: Do you want to tell me anything about your work as a publicist for them?
Kylie: I enjoyed it. Russ Hampshire gave me an opportunity to try something new. A lot of companies are hesitant on letting a talent handle a job that big. ...I was in there for a whole year and I loved it. It was creative and fun and I had many, many ideas that I never got to use. I think
it came down to the fact Russ Hampshire had in mind a different idea for publicity than I did. I was looking a more of the thing of like...getting the girls on the radio, getting them on TV shows, big interviews, that type of thing, more mainstream. Russ, he is more distributor-driven...so to him, the
reviews on the adult magazine are the most important thing and they are important, don't get me wrong, because that is where the distributors that are buying from the companies that are getting the product out there. ...He just wants to get the movies out, get them seen, reviewed and so...forth. I think
mainstream publicity wasn't something he was interested in.
Q: Can you tell me a little bit about your plans for the future, are you still going to feature dance?
Kylie: No...I did the circuit, feature dancing for five years and I have been dancing since college...for [a total of] nine years. I'm tired of it.
Q: Tell me about your future plans.
Kylie: ...I may dance a couple of gigs just because I want to buy a house. It's a great way to get that down payment. Right now I am just freelancing, which is fun. I am enjoying that. It's a great way to make money, you know, without using your brain. Mostly I am focusing on my website. My website is
growing by leaps and bounds and I am constantly putting more and more effort into it. I have a live web cam in my house and I'm gonna have two by the end of the week. I do live shows once a week. I just did one with Kim Chambers last week and her husband Scott, and that was so much fun. We did Kim's first
DP in like five years, so it was a real kick. But I do enjoy those shows and doing the chats and I'm going to be more involved in my website in learning how to do more of the design. I have a webmaster that rocks, but I want to get more involved in that aspect as well.
Q: What would you like to do once you retire from adult?
Kylie: ...I'm not really sure. I mean, I can still fall back on broadcast journalism. There is always the editing thing. Jonathan has approached me about going into working with him...like being a team, which I think would be fun. I think it would be a blast. I'm glad I can get along with him in
that aspect. Keep him organized, he could use it.
Q: What was the latest thing that you shot?
Kylie: Would have to be my VCA DVD, An Affair With Kylie Ireland.
Q: Is there anything you want to tell us about that?
Kylie: Oh...it's gonna be so cool. It's going to be amazing. It took forever to shoot. I studied all of the other DVD's, the adult ones, the interactive ones, I looked at them picked them apart and said this is what I don't want this is what I want and I had talked to all the different companies and decided
I wanted to stay with VCA for that project. That wasn't a contract project. I really put my heart and soul into that and it's strange because VCA has won Best DVD from AVN for the past 2 years. One was for Cashmere, which was my movie, and the other one was for Raw, which was my movie. For Raw, I went out myself
and shot the hidden dance sequence and I put in extra interviews and went ahead the extra mile to make sure it was good and that is the same attitude with this DVD. I'm putting everything into it because I want to make it the best and would like to see it win next year, I really would. I don't know if it will, because
there is going to be a lot of competition, but I would really like to see it win. That would be cool. It just has tons and tons of extras. There is an extra in there where we shot in my car I own a '57 Chevy convertible Bel Air, we did a little fifties thing where I did a whole masturbation scene in the car. It's very
cute...all pony tails and bobby socks and then some of the virtual sex parts, like I mentioned I did a virtual sex angle which is the guy was doing my ass and I had had 2 toys in my pussy, so you can see I went the entire spectrum that I possibly could on this thing. It was fun. It was an opportunity for me to spread my wings sexually.
Q: Is it painful for you, physically?
Kylie: Not when you are relaxed and into it. You definitely have to be turned on.
